Buddy is a native of Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Growing up as a
boy he loved the water and spent many hours on the
Pasquotank River. After completing school, he spent a few years
traveling to Australia, California, Hawaii, France, Puerto Rico and
Indonesia where he surfed the waves. |

Buddy started his commercial
fishing career in 1976 on a scallop boat "THE COMPANION" out of
Wanchese, NC. After a summer of scalloping he knew that he wanted to
be a full time commercial fisherman. He fished with some of the
best trawl boat fisherman on the East Coast. From years of being
a deck hand, he worked his way up to first mate, where he learned all
that encompasses commercial fishing.
In doing so, he fished from
the Gulf of Maine, the Georgia banks, the Jersey shores, the Carolina
Coast and the Florida Coast.While
he was working with the other Captains, he was also saving money to
purchase a commercial boat of his own. He has owned the "Emily
Shay" out of Wanchese, NC for the last 14 years.

Buddy also obtained his
Captains license in 1987, which allowed him to run sport-fishing
vessels when he wasn't commercial fishing. He has worked on almost all
of the sport-fishing boats at the Inlet, either as a mate,
alternate Captain or Captain. Over the years he has run head boats such
as "The Crystal
Dawn" and "The Miss Oregon Inlet." He has also ran charter
boats such as "The Jaqueline Anne."
With Buddy's
many years of experience in sport-fishing, commercial fishing and head
boats you can rest assured that you are in good hands. |

As Captain Buddy says,
"Remember, don't let
the big ones get away."
Now, let's go
fishing! |
